McDonald's opted not to produce a U.S. Monopoly game in 2018 and instead went with a Halloween sweepstakes called "Trick. Treat. Win!". Similar to Monopoly, patrons were rewarded for scanning QR codes on food packaging with daily instant win prizes. In addition, users acquired prize tokens with each scan that they could attribute towards sweepstakes prizes of their choosing. There were 26 different partners involved in the promotion from October 5th until Halloween.

With over 5 million downloads the the game was wildly successful, propelling it to the #2 spot in the App Storesetting a new record for most promotional registrations in McDonald’s history
